The RIGOL DL3000 Series is a single-channel programmable DC electronic load designed for testing power supplies, batteries, chargers, converters, automotive electronics and power devices. Depending on the model, it supports up to 200 V input, 70 A current, 450 W power, 30 kHz dynamic loading and 5 A/μs current slew rate. Four static operating modes, battery testing, OCP and OPP testing, waveform display and remote interfaces support both laboratory and automated testing..
The RIGOL DL3000 Series Programmable DC Electronic Load is designed for engineers, power electronics laboratories, production facilities and quality-assurance teams that need to test how a power source performs under controlled electrical loading.
The series can simulate different load conditions by drawing a programmed amount of current or power from the connected device under test. It is suitable for evaluating regulated power supplies, switching-mode power supplies, batteries, battery chargers, DC-DC converters, photovoltaic systems, automotive electronics, server power supplies and semiconductor power devices.
The current DL3000 family includes:
All models are single-channel programmable DC electronic loads. The DL3041 is the highest-power model in the series and is intended for applications requiring greater voltage, current and power-handling capability.

The RIGOL DL3000 supports four standard static operating modes:
These modes allow users to reproduce different real-world load behaviours during power-source testing.
Constant Current Mode
In Constant Current mode, the electronic load draws a fixed current regardless of changes in the input voltage, within the permitted operating range.
This mode is suitable for:
Constant Voltage Mode
In Constant Voltage mode, the electronic load adjusts the current to maintain a programmed input voltage.
This mode is useful for:
Constant Resistance Mode
In Constant Resistance mode, the load simulates a programmed resistance. The current changes automatically according to the input voltage.
Typical applications include:

Constant Power Mode
In Constant Power mode, the load adjusts the current to maintain a programmed power level as the input voltage changes.
This mode is useful for simulating:
The DL3000 supports dynamic loading that switches between two programmed levels. This helps engineers evaluate how a power source responds when load demand changes suddenly.
The series provides three dynamic modes:
Selected models support dynamic operation up to 30 kHz. The DL3021 and DL3031 provide up to 15 kHz, while the DL3021A, DL3031A and DL3041 support up to 30 kHz.
Dynamic testing can be used to measure:
The DL3041 provides an adjustable current slew rate from 0.001 A/μs to 5 A/μs, allowing users to control how quickly the current changes between programmed levels.

The List function allows users to generate complex load profiles consisting of multiple programmed steps.
Up to 512 steps can be configured. Each step can include:
List sequences are useful for:
The built-in battery test function allows users to discharge a battery under controlled conditions and measure its performance.
Battery testing can include:
The test can stop automatically when the configured voltage, capacity or discharge-time condition is reached.
This function is suitable for:
The DL3000 includes dedicated Overcurrent Protection and Overpower Protection test functions.
OCP Testing
OCP testing gradually increases the current load according to programmed steps until the connected power source activates its overcurrent protection.
This helps engineers determine:

OPP Testing
OPP testing increases the load power in programmed steps to determine when the power source activates overpower protection.
This is suitable for:
The short-circuit test function allows the electronic load to simulate a short-load condition within the instrument’s rated operating limits.
This helps users evaluate:
The output capability and protection rating of the device under test should always be reviewed before performing this test.

The Factory function supports repetitive pass/fail testing in production and quality-control environments.
Users can configure:
This function helps simplify routine production testing without requiring complex external software.
The 4.3-inch TFT LCD can display changing voltage, current and power values as a waveform.
Users can:
The waveform display is useful for monitoring dynamic tests, battery discharge and changing power conditions.
The series provides voltage, current and power readback for monitoring the connected device under test.
Minimum available readback resolution can reach:
High-resolution readback may depend on the model or installed option.
This measurement capability helps users evaluate:
The DL3000 includes protection features intended to protect both the electronic load and the connected test system.
Protection functions include:
When a protection condition occurs, the load can turn off its input and stop drawing current. A warning message is displayed to indicate the detected condition.
The series supports remote operation through multiple communication interfaces.
Available interfaces include:
Remote connectivity allows the DL3000 to be integrated into:

The final RIGOL DL3000 price depends on the selected model, installed interfaces, options, calibration requirements and accessories.
The DL3041 supports up to 450 W of DC load power.
This higher power rating is suitable for:
The DL3041 supports input voltages from 0 V to 200 V.
The remaining DL3000 models support up to 150 V.
Users should ensure that the input voltage never exceeds the rated limit of the selected model.
The DL3041 supports current up to 70 A.
Other series models provide:
Selected DL3000 models provide dynamic load switching up to 30 kHz.
This allows users to simulate rapidly changing power demand and evaluate the transient response of the connected source.
The DL3041 provides adjustable current slew rates up to 5 A/μs.
Slew-rate control allows engineers to reproduce different load-transition speeds and observe how the power source responds.
The series supports:
These modes cover common power-source and battery test requirements.
Dynamic loading is available in:
These modes provide flexibility for periodic, triggered and manually controlled transient tests.
The List function supports sequences of up to 512 steps.
Each step can be configured with a different load value and duration, allowing users to simulate complex operating profiles.
The dedicated battery function can measure:
Automatic cut-off conditions help prevent excessive discharge.
Dedicated OCP and OPP tests help determine whether a power source activates protection within the expected current or power range.
The electronic load can simulate a short-circuit condition for protection-system validation.
The Factory test function supports repetitive production testing with user-defined limits and pass/fail indications.
The front-panel display presents:
Users can visually monitor changing electrical parameters during transient, battery and sequence tests.
The instrument can retain selected operating settings after power is removed, supporting faster restoration of commonly used configurations.
Built-in USB, RS232 and LAN connectivity supports local and remote test-system integration.
An optional USB-GPIB converter supports compatibility with legacy automated test environments.
