Wireless Remote Tools (WRT) is Anritsu’s LAN-based software solution for remote monitoring and control of handheld RF instruments. It enables engineers to operate instruments wirelessly from a safe location—ideal for hard-to-reach setups like tower-top installations or long-term interference monitoring environments..
Wireless Remote Tools (WRT) bridges the gap between safety, convenience, and efficiency in RF testing environments. By communicating with Anritsu handheld instruments over a local area network (LAN), WRT enables full instrument access without requiring physical proximity—making it ideal for high-altitude or hazardous measurement scenarios.
One of the simplest configurations involves attaching a USB-powered Wi-Fi router (e.g., ZyXEL MWR102) directly to the instrument. This setup allows a user to stand safely at ground level while the instrument operates at the top of a communications tower, connected to a remote radio head. WRT software gives the user access to monitor, control, and log measurements remotely with real-time visibility.
The software is also valuable for long-term spectrum monitoring, especially when issues are intermittent or unknown. Instead of manually babysitting the equipment, engineers can let the WRT system record and respond while away from the setup.
Remote control functions allow users to adjust settings, initiate scans, and store trace data, just as if they were operating the device in person. This dramatically increases efficiency and safety in field testing and reduces troubleshooting time in inaccessible or dangerous environments.
