The IWATSU CS-8200 is designed for semiconductor R&D, power electronics laboratories, component manufacturers and engineering teams that require high-voltage current-voltage characterization with accurate low-current measurement.
The dedicated HV unit provides a maximum peak output of 2 kV at 20 mA, corresponding to a maximum peak output power of 40 W. It supports both DC and pulse operation, positive and negative polarity, and constant-voltage or constant-current drive measurements. The HV measured-voltage range extends from 50 V to 2 kV, while the normal measured-current range extends from 50 μA to 20 mA.
For leakage-current characterization, the HV measurement system also provides dedicated low-current ranges extending down to 5 nA, complementing the instrument's minimum measured-current resolution of 250 fA. This makes the CS-8200 suitable for breakdown and leakage evaluation as well as conventional high-voltage semiconductor characteristic measurements.
In addition to the HV source, the CS-8200 incorporates the CS-8000 Series medium-voltage unit. It supports peak operating combinations of 200 V / 1 A and 100 V / 2 A, with measured voltage ranges from 200 mV to 200 V and measured current ranges from 5 nA to 2 A. Supported waveforms include DC, pulse, sine, half-wave and full-wave operation.
The integrated GATE unit delivers up to 40 V / 1 A and supports DC, pulse and 50 Hz sine waveforms. Programmable gate sequencing, a -40 V to +40 V pre-signal gate range, and configurable gate hold times allow semiconductor devices to be evaluated under different bias conditions.
The CS-8200 also supports single sweep and double sweep measurements. Double-sweep operation is particularly useful for evaluating hysteresis behaviour in wide-bandgap devices such as SiC and GaN semiconductors.
A large 12.1-inch touch screen provides X-Y characteristic curves, Y-T time-domain waveform monitoring and measurement information. Y-T monitoring allows engineers to inspect applied waveforms, measurement points, pulse timing and abnormal behaviour such as oscillation during device characterization.
For applications requiring significantly higher current, the CS-8200 can be combined with optional CS-205, CS-210 or CS-220 high-current units, extending pulse-current capability to 500 A, 1,000 A or 2,000 A respectively at up to 50 V. IWATSU specifically shows a system configuration using the CS-8200 + CS-220 + CS-322 fixture for a 2 kV / 2,000 A characterization system.
PMK America's CS-8200 configuration requires the CS-021 HV standard connection cable set and CS-322 test fixture, together with the CC-8200 calibration certificate and ID-8200 inspection test data. Optional CS-2xx current-extension units, CS-520 patch panel and CS-5xx test adapters are not included with the basic mainframe.
