The Hailo-8 automotive-grade AI accelerator IC, part number HNC18BA21BH, is designed for on-device computer vision and neural network inference in automotive systems. It delivers up to 26 TOPS of AI performance, supports concurrent models and video streams, and operates across an automotive temperature range of −40°C to 105°C.
The Hailo-8 automotive-grade AI accelerator IC, part number HNC18BA21BH, adds dedicated neural network processing to automotive edge systems. It provides up to 26 TOPS of AI compute performance for supported computer vision models while operating across a specified temperature range of −40°C to 105°C.
The processor can support applications such as vehicle perception, camera-based monitoring, object detection, and other vision analytics. Its architecture allows multiple AI models and input streams to be processed within an application. Achieved latency, frame rate, and stream capacity depend on the selected models and the complete system design.
Hailo-8 integrates the memory required for neural network processing on the processor, so an additional external DRAM device is not required for the accelerator. This can simplify board design and component selection. Hailo lists 2.5 W typical processor power consumption; power and thermal requirements should be evaluated for the intended workload and enclosure.
The automotive-grade Hailo-8 is listed by Hailo as AEC-Q100 Grade 2 compliant. Hailo also states an A-SPICE Level 2 development flow and ISO 26262 ASIL-B (D) compliance for its Hailo-8 automotive offering. System-level functional safety requirements must still be addressed in the final vehicle design.
For development, Hailo provides tools to prepare and compile supported neural network models and run them on the processor. Its published framework support includes TensorFlow, TensorFlow Lite, Keras, PyTorch, and ONNX.
