The RIGOL RSA3045N Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer is built for RF engineers, communication system developers, electronics manufacturers, EMC laboratories and research institutions that require precise frequency-domain analysis and real-time signal capture.

The analyzer combines conventional swept spectrum analysis with real-time spectrum analysis, allowing users to capture transient and intermittent RF events that may be missed by traditional spectrum analyzers.

Its frequency coverage from 9 kHz to 4.5 GHz makes it suitable for testing wireless communication devices, IoT equipment, Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi, RF modules, antennas, microwave circuits, automotive electronics and industrial communication systems.

High Dynamic Range RF Analysis

The RSA3045N provides excellent sensitivity and dynamic range for detecting weak RF signals alongside stronger carriers.

It supports:

  • RF signal measurements
  • Harmonic analysis
  • Spur measurements
  • Occupied bandwidth
  • Adjacent channel power
  • Channel power
  • Carrier-to-noise ratio
  • Signal monitoring
  • Spectrum occupancy analysis

The optional preamplifier improves sensitivity, allowing measurements down to −161 dBm DANL, making it suitable for low-level RF signal detection.

Real-Time Spectrum Analysis

The RSA3045N supports 10 MHz standard real-time analysis bandwidth, upgradeable to 40 MHz.

Real-time analysis enables engineers to detect:

  • Short RF bursts
  • Frequency hopping signals
  • Intermittent interference
  • Transient emissions
  • Pulse signals
  • Spectrum collisions
  • Wireless communication faults

Unlike conventional sweep analysis, real-time acquisition captures continuous RF activity without missing short-duration events.

Built-in Tracking Generator

The integrated tracking generator simplifies frequency response measurements of passive RF devices.

Typical applications include:

  • Filter testing
  • RF amplifier measurements
  • Cable testing
  • Antenna feedline testing
  • Attenuator characterization
  • RF component verification

The tracking generator eliminates the need for an external signal generator during many RF measurements.

Vector Network Analysis

The RSA3045N supports optional Vector Network Analysis (VNA) functionality.

It enables engineers to measure:

  • S11 return loss
  • VSWR
  • Cable loss
  • Reflection measurements
  • Transmission response
  • Gain measurements

This capability allows basic RF network characterization without requiring a dedicated vector network analyzer.

EMI Pre-Compliance Testing

The instrument supports optional EMI measurement functions for engineers preparing products for EMC compliance testing.

Available capabilities include:

  • Peak detector
  • Quasi-peak detector
  • Average detector
  • CISPR bandwidth filters
  • EMI limit lines
  • EMI report generation

This makes the RSA3045N suitable for preliminary EMC testing before formal certification.

Multiple RF Measurement Functions

The analyzer supports a wide range of RF measurements, including:

  • Channel Power
  • Occupied Bandwidth
  • ACPR
  • Carrier Power
  • Harmonics
  • TOI
  • Phase Noise
  • Frequency Counter
  • Burst Power
  • Spectrogram
  • Waterfall Display
  • Zero Span
  • AM/FM Demodulation

These functions help engineers evaluate RF performance throughout product development and production.

Spectrum Monitoring

Long-duration spectrum monitoring helps identify intermittent RF interference and changing spectrum usage.

Applications include:

  • Wireless troubleshooting
  • Interference hunting
  • RF site surveys
  • Broadcast monitoring
  • Spectrum occupancy
  • Security monitoring
  • Industrial wireless diagnostics
  •

Display and User Interface

The RSA3045N features a 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch display with an intuitive graphical interface.

The display provides:

  • Spectrum traces
  • Waterfall view
  • Spectrogram
  • Marker tables
  • Measurement results
  • Multi-window display
  • Touch gesture navigation

The touchscreen improves measurement efficiency during laboratory and field operation.
