The Sealevel 641U-OEM USB-to-serial adapter offers embedded designers a dependable way to add four RS-232 ports to any OEM platform. With support for legacy software via standard COM port recognition, it bridges the gap between modern USB-based systems and traditional serial communication needs.
Each port includes LED indicators for transmit and receive activity, and the unit’s state-machine design allows efficient communication over multiple ports with minimal CPU overhead.
Designed for field flexibility, it is powered via an external 9–30VDC input and offers a fused power connection on pin 5 of each RJ45 port for downstream serial peripherals.
Expansion is easy via an RS-485 passthrough that supports chaining up to 246 SeaI/O N-series boards, offering a wide range of I/O capabilities like relay outputs, isolated inputs, A/D, and D/A functions.
